Just use M12 washers but space them so that they are either side.
If you look at some of the other builds you will see how many you need. I think I have 2 at the back and 3 at the front.

On the front top wishbones there is a large gap. Does this need to stay to allow movement or do I need to take up the slack with washers as I have seen some others do? Washers.. set the wishbone to the back, shim the front. it helps with the IVA self centering..

my problem is that I seem to have a "2013" chassis That's not a problem, that's evolution My chassis was built around September 2012 which does differ from the chassis in the guide, I am curious how the 2013 differs from mine, I can't see anything major in the pictures. Where are the mount points you refer to?

Actually I think this my mistake. The mountings I was referring to are in the centre for the gear change and handbrake and I could not see them in the build guide. Now I have studied a few more builds I see they are there so I don't have a 2013 chassis problem at all....

Now a couple of questions if anyone can help please. The steering rack has a splined shaft which my Focus donor did not. What part is best to connect the end of the donor shaft to the spline?

Another question Is this an acceptable way to mount the pedals? I would use slightly shorter bolts so they don't foul the balance bar.

All the questions your asking are answered in other builds ie rocket and sonic and the technical section.
Just take the time to look thru and you will find the answers, we've all had the same questions at one point.

Another question Is this an acceptable way to mount the pedals? I would use slightly shorter bolts so they don't foul the balance bar. Use button head Allen bolts, and install threads upwards. There should be 10mm spacers between the pedals and mounts. So the master cylinders clear the front tube. I used normal bolt, and installed upwards. No problems.

You will need to move your radiator forward.

You will need to move your radiator forward. Bob Hi Bob, is that because it is too close to the bulkhead? I did think that but the fan can be fitted on the other side if needed. Will that not give it enough room?

Agree with Mark. On the new chasis it will kink the pipes at the bottom. Look at my build diary as I did not move it forward and later had too.
