Still no news from insurers why the rocket, and some exo skeletal cars are not being quoted for. Seems to be a decision made by one company, and the others follow like sheep with no reason. I can see why some people drive without it ( not that I condone that!). I'm trying Adrian Flux tommorow, see what that yields. Also, as a warning, Direct line credit checks you when you get a quote, but didn't tell me at the time. Experian shows it on my report. Naughty naughty!!

Flux comes back with 283£ fully comp, 200 excess. 1500 miles a year. Power output, not a concern. They'll insure on chassis numbers, and instalments if you need them. Patient guy in the phone, as my kids were playing hell in the back of the car. Decisions

Progress ;D ;D ;D
Need 2 Insure came back with a response. Usually, waiting for an insurer to come back to me is as sign that its a "no response" situation.
However, regards to the refusal to cover Rocket's, Paul the manager there, rang me earlier on with some good news, and answers to why underwriters were refusing cover on exoskeletal cars.
Apparently, due to the statistics based on the Atom, KTM X bow etc, being highly expensive, and written off frequently due to poor driving skills, the underwriters basically protected themselves by simply refusing to touch them. Lightweight cars in that style were deemed a bad risk.
The Rocket was determined to be the same risk, and tarred with the same brush. No doubt, by an semi-official looking office worker, performing google image research, whilst working his track ball mouse, and eating his yogurt and Kellogg frosties.
I can see the Exocet going the same route TBH.
After Need 2 Insures discussion with their underwriters, they have agreed, and confirmed that they will cover the Rocket, even though the Atom is on the refused list.
It gets better:-
As you know, my project is far from standard build. The engine is ex-drag car built, with bottom end capability of 500 HP plus. All other insurers have asked how powerful it is, I have tried from 200 to 450hp. And quotes for near the 400hp bracket are stupid. But, how can you insure by bhp when the power can be adjusted? How do i prove what it was running when if there was an incident? big grey area.!
Need 2 Insure are aware of the turbo, and gearbox, even the F1 spoilers. No problems. 2100cc engine and forced induction, no problem. Paul, as it turns out is a bit of an enthusiast. I like that.
The quote was looked at from an enthusiast point of view, so no deep intakes of breath when I mention the throttlebodies, and external wastegate.
They came back with a good fully comp policy, 3k miles, all mods declared, £300 all in. Bear in mind i have 3 points and 1 bump still on my file.
Even though its 15£ dearer than flux, im going with Need 2 insure. Id rather have the service, over the pure price. Plus, the telesales gut at flux wasnt the best salesman, and gave me the usual "best price" crap, before his "supervisor" knocking the admin fee off, as a special deal as long as i took it "next day".... I cant go that route - pure principal.
So, great work by Need 2 Insure, above and beyond the usual scope of work for an insurer who clearly WANTS the business, and unlike others didn't listen to the computer when it said NO.
On another point, Nitrous is not touched by this underwriter, however, a nitrous equipped rocket can be covered at a higher premium, and different underwriter.
So, for me, im sorted. Maybe they can assist others with this exoskeletal issue, and theres an answer to WHY the Rocket was on the blacklist.
Need 2 Insure tel 01623 720081, ask for Paul. - Owners club/forum discount also applied.

Quote zone appears to be 2gether insurance, who quoted me the price above.
The fact of hp and value, plus my bump/points are the issue.
Whoever said insuring a car with almost 1000hp per tonne was easy lol.
