Hi fellow moggers.
I have an issue where my rear hubs do not have the moulded bit to drill the two holes in for the wing stay. My only options is to either weld on a piece to bolt e stay onto, or, get some second hand hubs.
Please can someone take a photo of the back of their hubs CLEARLY showing the moulded bit which you drill the two holes into so that I can ensure I find the right ones? must be a MK1.
Very much appreciated
Wayne

Is it the black stick out bit about the same size as the wing stay bracket? Thanks for taking the time to point me to the picture buddy.

Those in the link are Mk2s my friend , as are mine if you wanted to get your eyes on.
Lug is slightly smaller - but pls note i have the older wing stays , and am not aware if yours are differant

I thought they looked slightly different, but it's the same sort of idea. Yes, it is that stick-out bit. I'm not sure what the difference with the new wing stays is, or which I have.

My donor is a 1990, and has the lugs both sides, the hub looks exactly like thefreak's (one with the lug that is!). I'll check my 1992 but suspect it'll have the lugs, seems for some reason most have the lug while others don't & no really knows why

Hi, I have the same issue. My donor was a 1989 Eunos and all the early cars are missing the lugs...the early cars had these hubs. I am considering welding brackets to the brake back plates and bolting the wing stays to these.

If by back plates you mean the dust shields then I seriously doubt they will be strong enough to take the wing stays weight. If there anything like mine theres probably more rust than metal left !!!!

Yes, you may be right. Thanks for the advice. My dust shields are rust-free and quite rigid, but I think you are probably right. I'm interested to see that it's possible to weld to the hub casting - I was advised against trying... My other thought was to use the brake back plates as a template to make some heavier brackets similar to Stuart's front stays.

See the pics above. I welded directly to the hub casting. Can't see why you should be advised against it?

Welding castings can be done but you can sometimes "blow" the casting away. Putting a bit of heat into the casting first usually does the trick.

Just mig'd it on. It's taken a lot of abuse in the last 3 months and it's held fast! Even more so than some of the other competitors who keep snapping wing stays
