Just got my 1.8L Rocket insured with Adrian Flux
Me and the better half, Comprehensive, 3000 miles per year and garaged over night.
£273 without the breakdown cover but £305 with breakdown.
Also thanks to the owner group for the 15% discount. Bit more than I thought but not bad in the grand scheme of things.

Yes if your a member of the Forum you are viewed as member of the MEV Owners Group / Club however it helps if you have a MEV Designed car. If your just after some quotes for budgeting purposes, proof will not be required at this stage. nigel

Thanks! I've haven't bought a kit yet, but I was in RTR on Friday talking Rockets with Paul, and I'll be getting a donor Focus fairly soon.

Guys
I've been getting online quotes from the insurers at the top of this thread (don't get much time to phone during the working day but easy to email in the evenings). This is for a Rocket, 1.8, £8000 value, garaged, Leicestershire, owner + spouse, fully comp.
From their websites I got the following quotes : Footman James : £226 Graham Sykes : refused to quote, no reason given Adrian Flux : £215 Backford Bloor : £150 MSM : £261 Heritage : Rocket not on website Premium Choice : Rocket not on website Sure Term : Needs registration to quote (and I haven't started the build yet!)
So on that basis, Backford Bloor wins hands down! Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with them?
I'm looking to find one insurer to cover me through the build and long term for driving cover. Any thoughts?
Cheers Mark

last piece of large cash on were on the road !! Done a bit of phoning around today using recommendations from here: Adrian Flux - £268 - 3000 miles per annum, fully comp, just me driving, £200 excess vehicle valued at up to £25K Footman James - £323 - same specifics at Adrian Flux MSM - £281 as Adrian Flux but up to £20K value with £400 excess Blackford Bloor - £242 - 2000 miles per annum, £20K agreed value Glynwood Insurance - £171 - 3000 miles per annum, £20K agreed value, £200 excess me only driving, fully comp The issue I have is that they ask the value of your vehicle - this does not mean this is what they will give you if the car get stolen or a write-off. The insurance company will give you 'market value' which becomes a very blurred issue for a kit car as not all kits builds are the same. Although I have 90% of the receipts for the car, they will look at what Rockets are selling for at that point and offer around that figure not necessarily what proof I have of what the car cost me to build !! £20 - £25K is the maximum certain insurance companies would go to without the car having Thatcham approved security. I think for me an agreed value is best and the quote from Glynwood Insurance seems good value

Cheers Jon
Just called Adrian Flux last week, got a quote of £325 with £100 excess with a car value of £16K. Told them I would have a look around first at which point it mysteriously dropped to £242. Definitely worth looking round but the Glynwood Insurance quote seems really good value will give them a try.

Me also, was about £200 I think, very helpful bunch Sadly after 3300 miles in just over 5 months it is not getting much use at the moment, will just be weekends after the clocks change Mind you I'm really pleased with my mileage, it runs like a dream, no issues at all ;D Jim

3300 miles aint to bad Jim. I'm collecting mine next week I'm hoping for a couple of weekends worth of sunny, not necessarily warm, weather.
I was hoping to up the mileage from 3000 to 5000/6000 next summer so that should add a few quid on to the policy.

Haven't looked into insurance yet nearly at the end of my exocet build but was woundering if any 20 year olds have had any luck with insurance. My other kit car is just over 800 quid with fJ hope it will be less than that.

For people over in the US, I have had ZERO trouble with USAA. I have full insurance with them, and they are great. Trust me! www.usaa.comYou need to be a current or former member of the US armed forces. Or, be married to a member or be a child of one. We got ours from a Mother-in-law that we don't like That's good info for the US folks. For those without military family... I have www.classiccollectors.com/. I pay 250/yr, but I am limited to 5k miles and it must be garage kept.
