The above pic's are of the anti roll bar that Iv'e fitted, its not made for the tR1ke but only needed a little trimming of the nose cone to clear the alloy bush housing for the bar.

Looks impressive! I have been thinking about mounting an anti roll bar, but haven't found the inspiration (guts) to engineer the correct one...
May I be so inpolite to ask what kind of anti roll bar this is? And more important: does it work? Doesn't it make it more nervous in bumpy curves?

That looks spot on and I see your going for starting as soft as it goes:-) like vtR1k says can you feel the difference ??

Hi Rik-Andy The kit was bought from PLAYS-KOOL.performance and it was a bit of a gamble to be honest, it is an aftermarket kit to fit the wide bodied westfield. I wasn't surprised to find it too short for the width of the tR1ke so it had to be cut and lengthened. The bar is hollow with a 14mm inside diameter so a 14m solid bar was welded into both halves to give an extra 170mm width. So far I'm very happy with the ride quality over stutter bumps and not as harsh as would be without the kit because without the kit I would run with more damping to keep it stable. The biggest improvement though is when cornering hard and quick changes of direction, it has far less body roll so really sharpens up the steering in the corners. So far it is set at the least effective end of the bar which is great for the roads but I will slide the drop link a little further up the bar on the track to see what effect it has.

Here are my first pics Last saturday I went to Hyperpro office to test and adjust my shocks/spring settings and the engeneer was suprised how little roll my tr1ke had when sharp cornering unlike Edwin's which had more roll. The only explanation I came up with is I use 17"rims thus thin tire and normal road pressure. I dug in your thread and noticed you use 15" which might be worth noting. I haven't any experience on suspension but is a anti roll bar (torsion bar) affecting the dampening of the shocks? br, Erik

Hi Eric The tR1ke had a couple of modifications for 2012 when we bought our kits, The front track was widened for stability I assume !! and the front springs were changed from 180lb I think to 225lb, I dont know if they changed the position of the bottom shock mount to keep the same angle of leverage as this would also make a difference. This is likely to be the reason for the extra stability of your tR1ke compared to Edwin's.
The outside spring on mine when cornering hard would compress quite a lot which is what causes the body roll,When I say cornering hard I mean at the point when all 3 wheels are drifting, It's not an issue when driving at normal road speeds. I agree that the 15in will compress a little more than the 17in but it is very marginal on such a lightweight car.
As for the arb having an effect on the damping, its not a spring damping aid but without the arb I used a higher damping setting to help stop the body roll, I could use stronger springs but that would spoil the ride quality. So fitting the arb enables me to keep the softer springs and use less damping and still have far less roll in the corners when driving fast, plus I still have the option to increase the damping when previously I was maxed out when on the track just to try and tame the body roll.

I wasn't aware of any changes of the front side at all. Too bad they haven't tested the proto first before mass production. if this is true the MK1 costumers could buy the upgrade?
Sounds like a good mod if one is in need for one. I went for Hyperpro progressive wound springs which should show similar performance as you are looking for (comfort going forward and stiff when cormering). I do have to note the dial in and tests were free of charge as promised 2 years ago when I purshased them. The best service one could wish for and VERY reasonable priced.
br! Erik

As far as I can see, there is no need to drill holes or weld brackets? Am I correct?

Hi Rik There's no need to drill holes or weld any brackets to the tR1ke, but the nose cone does need cutting to clear the bush housings. The kit that I bought needs the holes in the alloy mountings opening up from 10mm to 12mm so it can be bolted to the top wishbone and bottom shock, and as the arb was 170m short I added a solid steel bar to the centre and welded it in place. I've been out for a few blasts this week and so far it's not shown any bad handling side effects with it set at the softest position but its definitely transformed the handling. As for being a winter project.....It took 1 afternoon to fit, so get one fitted and enjoy the ride I'll post some more detailed pic's without the nose cone on to give you a better idea of how it fits.

Great! Clear pictures and no further questions, Thanks! As for the winter project: this is more a financial issue, I spent all my savings on a new roof and top story on my house Sent from my S4 Active.

A clip from my first sighting laps of the day at Blyton trying out the handling since fitting the anti roll bar, a little difficult to see but from the driving seat it feels far better and by the end of the day the rear tyre had quite an even amount of wear compared to pre arb where the tyre was worn mainly on the right side.
