although i bought a sonic.i saw this in a kit car magazine and thought it was good value.
brand new 2.0 zetec engine included in kit
new exhaust
all lights
wheels and tyres included etc etc.
all for £4500 seems alot of kit .i feel short changed now.
You know something 'subevo' this is the first thing I've read in a while that has truly stunned me to the core.
I can only conclude that your having a bad day and with winter encroaching, the summer months, with the wind in your hair and the smile on your face as the road in-font becomes deserted are nothing but a distant memory and instead you find yourself burning the midnight oil in order to fulfill a dream.
I'm not about to start to preach the benefits of the Sonic over the Robin Hood or any other mass produced low kit priced Colin Chapman derivative for that matter, and instead I offer this advanced extract of an article named 'Behind the Wheel' soon (if I get some time) to be published on my web site. To remind you way you chose to build a Sonic7

The reaction of other road users
Having owned and driven a number of kit cars, predominantly 7's I thought I was well prepared to cope with the general public's reaction towards unusual motor vehicles.
“How wrong was I to be”.
I tend to somewhat unfairly group people based upon their reaction to the car into the following categories:-
1. Those who genuinely have no interest in auto mobiles and do not give a strange vehicle on the road a moment of their time.
2. Then there is the genuine automotive enthusiast who gives a considered stare, digesting the sight and sound of the car while searching in their memory banks to determine make model specification condition etc
3. Those predominately of the younger generation, teenagers who gasp and shout “give it some welley” while reeving their little hatchbacks engine at the lights in order to goad you in to demonstrating the cars performance.
4. Those for whom look at you in disgust, quite often brought about by jealousy, or just a total dislike for Cars.
and then finally
5. The average Joe, who drives a family car wishes one day to own a Ferrari has heard of Michel Schumacher, is a bit of a dreamer but who likes to see someone enjoying themselves, after who's initial look of disbelief soon gives way to growing smile as you pass by.
The thing about the Sonic 7 that makes it so different is that there is no real reference point to the car in that it doesn't look like anything else on the road, therefore whether your describing it to some one else or driving down the high street it always receives a look of bewilderment.
The age group to the car appeal has also surprised me, while the young child tugs at their fathers hand and asks if its going to transform into a walking robot, the teenager love's its modern ground hugging styling and are keen to ascertain the cars performance, but without doubt its been the reaction of the older generation that has surprised me most, their smiles and waves and general approval of something, so radically modern has caught me completely by surprise.

Trust me, when you drive it in public for the first time, you will know you made the right decision.
