Don't worry Scott there are other ideas for new kits floating around in my grey matter. I love the idea of changing a production car to my taste, not everyone will appreciate it of course, purists of the MX5 could be offended. Fact is when I drove one home intending it strip it for an Exocet I found I could not see through the rear window which had turned yellow, the windscreen kept misting up as the car was damp from a leaking soft top and the faded paint and dents led me to think of another project which addressed these points and added more storage space, security and practicality whilst bringing the styling up to date at the same time. The coupe is slightly lighter than the MX5 and has a much larger stow area in the back, the donor only cost £500 and drives very well. The sills had been repaired and so I stuck an MOT on it before I started work. I am very pleased with the results. The proportions are different to an Elise so it does not look like a replica or wanna be. Interseting to watch all the forums though with folk trying to find fault, no one has seen it yet so they may be considered premature. I know this is going to be a big seller, I have sold 3 already! Newark is going to be a great show for lots of reasons.

I think you'll still have trouble selling this amongst the mx5 community, since most of those faults wouldn't be apparent on a looked after car with the hard top on... Do any of those ideas rattling around involve an mx5 and 4 seats? You manage something involving those and it maybe if ever get saddled with kids besides having somewhere for them to sit, one of them could get called Stiggymills...

Stiggy, are you bored? Why not channel your thoughts into improving the rear petrol cap position, better quality lighting set, instrument pod casing, ect, ect. Your Exocet is a winner it justs needs your experience to iron out some niggling wrinkles including wing stay problems. Ted

Oh yes i'm liking that. I'm liking that a lot.
£2500 all in for the body?
EDIT - seen the price page, add VAT to that. Still a damn good price.
Looking forward to seeing the details.

Ted Eddie, Not sure about an redesigned wing stay, but an Exocet instrument pod is available from MEV. I got some alternative lights from Stuart (like Scott's last Rocket) and will attempt to fit some 2nd Elise Mk1 Rear Lamps. Tim

Hi all The idea of kit cars is to build a little of your own personality in to them, experiment design your own parts, if not maybe you should buy airfix kits so they can all look the same !!! Stuart provides a good platform with all his cars for you to all add your extra bits to .
