Well I can tell you she is very mental up to 100mph(on private land of course) but thats it and at 12000. Unfortunately the rear diff is certainly not much use for road use. So after a couple of hundred miles decisions have been made, and are as follows. 1.Change diff ratio it is 4.1:1 at present.Looking to go to 3.1. Using a freelander diff and then modifying the drive/prop shafts. Or and hopefully this can be done, get a manufactured crown and pinion set to bring it to this ratio and then everything else will stay the same. I have been in touch with a company and they are confident that they can do this, now discussing PRICE. 2.Change radiator to a thicker alloy one which will help with heat reduction. She has a tendency to get hot but then again I am sitting mostly at the 10000 mark, on my favorite bits of road. 3. Fit an in-line cush drive to take out some of the drive lash from the prop. But I think I will keep going as is until winter comes. Cheers for now John
Well the old diff has been removed and new fixing points are being welded up to take the freelander diff, which was going to be the cheapest option. Will get new drive shafts made up and will have to do some modification to the prop shaft as the freelander diff is a lot shorter( and lighter)Will all be done for xmas hopefully. Then the winter mods to the sonic will get done. Regards John
It's been a while since last I posted, work work and the usual got in the way.A couple of pics of winter bits on the atomic. What you can't see is the new diff, giving top speed of 130 verified( on private road and gps) I think more but bottled out. 0-60 not as good but about 4secs. Shed has been extended never enough room, and a helpful lift has been installed. Had a small oil leak from the water oil cooler,o ring needed replacing,a lot easier in the up position. Videos will follow after next weekend. Regards John.
If work permits will be down on Sunday. No not driving down in the Atomic, was thinking of trailering it but I can't really see the point, but then again you never can tell.Working away from home this week so will be a bit of a rush on Saturday to get ready. Cheers John
I don't know if this will just be a linke or what never posted a video befor here goes. Sorry about poor sound had active cam on my head,no helmet. She certainly is fun. John
